CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — Ronald McDonald loves this study. According to a study by BetSperts, the Mountain State’s most popular fast food restaurant is McDonald’s.
The study states that Starbucks and Chick-fil-A are the second and third most popular fast food restaurants in West Virginia.

McDonald’s is also the favorite in 21 other states. This includes the tri-state area. Starbucks is the most popular in the United States and the favorite in 24 states. Chick-fil-A is third and the favorite in four states: Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina.
The study states that West Virginia ranks third with Oklahoma on the list for the number of fast-food restaurants per 10,000 residents. There are 5.3 restaurants per 10,000 residents. West Virginia is beaten by Alabama and Nebraska.
The states with the fewest fast food restaurants per 10,000 people are Vermont, New Jersey, Mississippi and New York.
There are 39.2 McDonald’s locations per million people in the United States, which is the most in the world. The United States beat Australia and Canada for the top spot.
